4 Days Gorilla Trek & Dian Fossey Hike, This safari will begin and end in Rwanda, it will take you to Rwanda which is sometimes referred to as a land of a thousand hills.The tour will give an opportunity to visit the gorillas in the Volcanoes national park, the following day you will go and hike to the grave yard of Diane Fossey in the Karisoke Research Center. After this memorable 4 days  safari, you will embark on the transfer to the airport for your scheduled flight back home.

Detailed itinerary

Day 1: City tour and transfer to volcanoes national park

Depending on your arrival time, you will be meet and greeted by our safari tour guide, who will take you for a Kigali city tour if you arrive in Kigali on time. Places expected to visit include the Kigali genocide memorial site in Gisozi, local handicraft market, national museum among others if time allows. Enjoy lunch en-route and later you will embark on a two hours’ drive to the northern part of Rwanda and finally to volcanoes national park in Ruhengeri Mmusanze district a home to the few remaining endangered mountain gorillas in the world. you are expected to arrive in the evening as you wait for tomorrow’s most interesting activity gorilla tracking. Day 2: Mountain Gorilla Tracking.

Wake up early for a cup of tea or coffee to warm you up, and later you will be transferred to the park headquarters to receive short briefings by the park wardens/ senior ranger guide and also gets you allocated to the gorilla family in respect to your physical abilities. After briefing, the ranger guide will transfer you to the starting point to begin the search of our close cousins who shares almost 97% of human genes, this is a breathtaking experience on should not love to miss in the life time. Gorilla tracking time is unpredictable it can go from 1-7 hours since meeting them depends on where they last seen the previous day, so a reasonable degree of fitness is recommended as well as tracking gears like sturdy pair of walking shoes boots.

It’s a breathtaking moment to sit among the gorillas listening to them grumble to each other, it’s an extraordinary feeling sitting in the forest knowing you are with a few of the last remaining mountain gorillas. It’s amazing that only 880 of these remaining creatures left world-wide. Upon spotting them one hour is allowed to stay with them while taking photography as well as imitating their calls.  Day 3: Dian Fossy grave hike

Have breakfast and then after, you will go for the hike up to Dian Fossey grave, in Karisoke research center in the volcanoes national park. Dian Fossy was an American primatologist who dedicated her live conserving the lives of the mountain gorillas for over 18 years until she was killed and is buried there next to Digit, a mountain gorilla and many other gorillas died by diseases or sneers set to them by poachers. Without her effort in conserving and habituating mountain gorillas, gorillas would be no more. The hike to the Dian Fossy is somehow tough as it involves passing through the forest and slopes, so some physical fitness is needed. Day 4 Departure

After a hearty breakfast, you will be transferred back to Kigali, if you missed the first Kigali city tour on the first day, go for a city tour and visit interesting places like the Kigali genocide memorial site at Gisozi and the local handicraft market among other interesting places, have lunch en-route and then after proceed to the airport and meet your departure flight back home
