Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Arrival at Kigali international airport Rwanda

Upon your arrival at Kigali international airport, you will be greeted and welcomed by our safari tour guide who will brief you about the safari and later he will transfer you to your booked hotel in Kigali. Early arrivals can take optional tour of Kigali city and the surrounding areas, places expect to visit include the genocide memorial site in Gisenyi, national museum, handicraft shops among many others. Day 2: Depart for Bukavu- DR Congo

After breakfast at the lodge, you will be picked by your safari driver/guide who will drive you to southwards to Cyangugu boarder with a scenic view all through. However you will first have a stopover at Butare one of Rwanda’s attractive and biggest cities, here you will visit the national museum of Rwanda, the king’s palace, in Nyanza and the Rwanda genocide memorial site if time allows. After lunch within the city, you will continue with a picturesque drive of rolling hills in Rwanda passing via Nyungwe national park and a clear view of Lake Kivu to Bukavu in DR Congo.

Day 3: Track the Lowland Gorilla in Kahuzi Biega – DR Congo

Have a morning breakfast at the lodge to give you energy for low-land gorilla tracking in the Kahuzi biega national park, you will first report to the park headquarters to receive short briefings from the park wardens about the do’s and don’ts while with the gorillas and also get you assigned to the ranger guide. After you will set to the forest following the ranger guide, low land gorilla tracking is a bit different to mountain gorillas, tracking time normally last between 1-4 hours and these animals are bigger in size and they stay in bigger families when compared to the mountain gorilla.

Ounce they are met you will forget all the troubles you’ve gone through and utilize the one hour you are allowed to stay with these animals, while studding their behaviors as well as taking as many photos as you can. After tracking, come back to the lodge for lunch after , you will go for a nature walk in the Kahuzi Biega park and visit Tshibati waterfalls, visit Bukavu town, Mbayo tea plantations, the research Centre and the surrounding traditional homes. Day 4: Transfer back to Kigali

Have a hearty breakfast at the lodge. Then after drive to Cyangugu border and cross back to Kigali you will arrive in the late afternoon. If your departure flight is in the late evening you can go for a Kigali city tour if you missed it the first day.
