Here’s a detailed itinerary for a 10-day Rwanda Bird Watching Safari:
Day 1: Arrival in Kigali
Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be met by your guide who will transfer you to your hotel in Kigali. After checking in and refreshing, you will embark on a Kigali city tour which will include a visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial Centre and a local market. Finally an overnight in Kigali.

Day 2: Transfer to Akagera National Park
After breakfast, you will transfer to Akagera National Park in the eastern part of Rwanda. The journey takes approximately 2.5 hours and is filled with scenic views of the countryside. On arrival at the park, you will check-in to your lodge and have lunch. In the afternoon, you will embark on a game drive in the park, where you will have an opportunity to see some of the park’s wildlife and bird species. Later an overnight at the lodge.

Some of the bird species to be found in the park include the shoebill stork, papyrus gonolek, red-faced barbet, swamp flycatcher, and the African fish eagle among others. Then an overnight in Akagera
Day 4: Transfer to Ruhengeri
After breakfast, you will transfer to Ruhengeri in the northwestern part of Rwanda. The journey takes approximately 5 hours and is filled with scenic views of the countryside. You will stop en route for lunch and to take in the breathtaking views of the rolling hills of Rwanda. Overnight in Ruhengeri
