Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Rwanda Gorilla Tour – Volcanoes National Park

You are picked up from your booked accommodation in Kigali at around 4:30am by our safari guide. Then drive you to the northern part of Rwanda to volcanoes national park. The park found in Musanze province a habitat to the endangered mountain gorillas. The drive will take about 2 hours with a picturesque drive through out.

On arrival you will enjoy breakfast and later proceed to Kinigi park headquarters for short briefings from the park wardens. About the dos and don’ts while with gorillas and also get assigned to the gorilla group and ranger guide.

Rwanda gorilla groups are assigned to guests at random at the park headquarters. However our experienced guides will talk to the park wardens and express the clients’ interests in specific gorilla groups. At 8:30am the tour guide will transfer you to the starting point of the gorilla trek and later the guide will lead you to the forest to begin the activity.

Gorilla trekking time is unpredictable, meeting them depends on where they spent their last night from, however it can go from 1-8 hours, so a reasonable degree of physical fitness is needed as well as tracking gears like sturdy pairs of walking shoes and long sleeved shirts or blouses.

It’s a breathtaking moment to sit among the gorillas listening to them grumble to each other, it’s an extraordinary feeling sitting in the forest knowing you are with a few of the last remaining mountain gorillas in the world, it’s amazing that only 880 of these remaining creatures left.

Only one hour allowed to stay with these animals while taking photography as well as studding their behaviors. On return, your driver will transfer you back to Kigali if you still have time, you can visit the genocide memorial site in Gisenyi and later drop off at your hotel or at the airport to meet your scheduled flight back home.
